Industry Leaders Talked about “For a Better Earth” and “Green Consumption Ecology + ” of Liby Was Recognized
In the afternoon of April 1, the closed-door meeting of “For a Better Earth” mainly addressed by Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations and President of Boao Forum for Asia, was held in Beijing. As the only representative of the daily chemical industry, President of Liby Group Chen Kaixuan was invited to attend the meeting and discussed green development with domestic and overseas famous industry leaders such as Ban Ki-moon, Kai-Fu Lee, Mao Daqing, Hu Run and Ma Weidu. It is reported that only more than 10 guests attended the closed-door meeting together with Ban Ki-moon, indicating that Liby Group has made great achievements in green development and gained acceptance at home and abroad.
Chen Kaixuan was invited to share experience in green development
Before the closed-door meeting, General Secretary Xi Jinping met delegates of The Elders such as Robinson, Former President of Ireland, and Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations and President of Boao Forum for Asia in the Great Hall of the People, saying: “We should establish the awareness of a community of shared future for mankind and build and take good care of the earth.” General Secretary Xi Jinping ardently hoped that participants could have a strong sense of responsibility.
As the keynote speaker, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, while serving as the Secretary General of the United Nations and after leaving office, has dedicated himself to sustainable development for a long time and assisted the United Nations in the establishment of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He has repeatedly expressed that China sets up a model for sustainable development.

In the closed-door meeting, guests discussed how Chinese entrepreneurs propose feasible plans for sustainable economic development based on the sense of responsibility of a citizen and innovative commercial practice. Liby Group, as a “green” leader of Chinese daily chemical industry, has made great efforts to promote green development of the industry. President of Liby Group Chen Kaixuan was invited to attend the closed-door meeting and introduced Liby’s 25-year green development history to guests as an entrepreneur, which found a way for green and sustainable development of enterprises and provided useful reference for sustainable development of world economy.
Embarrassing experience incubates “a green seed”
Chen Kaixuan shared his startup experience in the closed-door meeting. When he started a business in 1994, many factories produced cleaning products, but the production environment was unclean. Dust existed everywhere in the washing powder workshop and there is loud noise and sharp odor……If you walked around in the workshop, black shoes and black hair turned white.
In 1997, Liby prepared to build the first production base in Panyu of Guangzhou. Remembering embarrassing experience, Chen Kaixuan desired to build a “green factory”. However, it was apparent that green development was a superior consciousness at that time. “Have you ever considered a great increase in construction cost and maintenance cost?” A designer from Beijing Designing Institute of Light Industry questioned when he heard it first.
Are things easy or hard to do? As long as we do, hard things will become easy. “As long as we can build a green factory free of dust, noise, wastewater and waste gas, I will.” It was his answer and commitment which he has kept till now. Nowadays, wastewater from Panyu production base can raise goldfish and this “green seed” has taken root and sprout in Liby Group.
Never stop “sticking to” environmental protection
The daily chemical industry seems inconspicuous as Internet is prevailing today. As a matter of fact, it is a genuine livelihood industry. In such an “inconspicuous” but livelihood-related industry, Liby Group has always “stuck to” environmental protection.
China is a country of severe water shortage, but the daily chemical industry is a genuine water-consuming industry and 23% of fresh water is used for cleaning of fabrics every year. It seems as if detergent has nothing to do with black crude oil, but it is a derivative of crude oil and non-renewable resources are consumed during production of detergent. Moreover, countless plastic packages are used by the daily chemical industry every year, but plastics must be naturally degraded within 30-50 years……
We will success with persistence. In 2006, Liby launched the first water-saving washing powder in the Chinese market, which reduced the rinsing times from three times to two times and saved 30% of water compared with ordinary products using unique formula and technology. In 2014, Liby made a technical breakthrough and launched a product which reduced the rinsing times to one time and saved 50% of water.
Meanwhile, Liby Group has vigorously promoted the use of renewable materials, replaced petroleum with palm oil and other plant materials, successfully combined surfactant and enzymatic preparations from renewable resources, launched washing powder with no irritation to hands with proprietary intellectual property rights, overturned the century-old formula and process of washing powder and succeeded in what many foreign companies failed in. Now Liby Group is one of the largest enterprises using renewable surfactant.
As we all know, concentrated detergent has less environmental impact and emission. Liby Group will focus more on concentration and increases the density of ordinary washing powder through concentration, which saves above 20% of package (more than 2000T).
According to statistics, renewable resources account for more than 70% of raw materials of washing products of Liby Group and the biodegradation rate of raw materials reaches above 90%. In 2018, the greenization rate of manufacturing process reached up to 61.93% and the environmental impact degree of green resources decreased by 33.46%.
Chen Kaixuan said proudly: “I promise that Liby Group sees green and environmental protection as important as economic benefit.”
Sow scientific researches and harvest green products
While mentioning how to realize green development and create a better earth, based on the development history of Liby Group, Chen Kaixuan said: “The successful green development experience of Liby Group cannot be separated from how we value technical R&D and can be mirrored by other enterprises.”

“We started to build a R&D team early in 1998 when Liby was just a small company.” Chen Kaixuan introduced. Presently, Liby Group has had a mature and professional R&D team and built a world-class R&D center. We can cover large distances in small steps. Liby Group harvests a lot from long-term investment in scientific research. The Innovation and R&D Center now can complete the study of more than 100 new products and new technologies, of which above 70% are high-tech products. Data of the State Patent Office shows that as an industry leader, the number of patents for invention of Liby beyonds the total of those owned top 2-5 peers in China.
